Systematic Hope

Systematic hope revels in the dichotomy of a designer also being the "experiencer" of the design, it gleans from the ontological design school of thought that we are designed by our own designing.
From this experience, systematic hope is an oxymoron, meaning that my designs embody "Hope" through systematic, institutionalised design practices and critical-inclusive design approaches. It is systematic in the truest sense of the word as I also display some future probes, prototypes and solutions that deal with computing systems that surround us. Charged with interdisciplinary knowledge of many years, my designs aim to translate Hope by addressing problems with integrated systemic lenses such as sociopolitical, economic, cultural and psychological too. I articulate my intentions of adapting alternative humane values in designing processes, products and systems while discerning the underlying assumptions and power structures. Please check out my portfolio of work with this ideology as the guiding core.

Portfolio of Work

The following two segments host several projects undertaken during my curriculum at design school (Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology) and contains the most relevant projects under each of the headings.

SYSTEMIC LENSES

Samaj. Sarkar. Bazar

The projects are reflective of my grasp of the larger sociopolitical, economic, and psychological systems at play when designing solutions. If given an opportunity these design, though brewed in an academic studio setting, sets the tone for real-life implementable projects.

CRITICAL DESIGN

Experimental. Speculative. Inclusive

Some of them are probes while others are historicised artefact and futuristic design solutions, this segment constitutes the experimental, speculative and inclusive ideas conceptualised from a critical design lens.

My Story

As a generalist and an enthusiast of embracing life as it unfolds, my journey wasn't a very conventional one. I went down different paths before realising my true interests.  Looking back now, some things that conspired as a series of unfortunate twists was in fact a blessing in disguise. My cumulative knowledge of interdisciplinary majors and experiences were preparing me for this moment.  Now I draw lessons from both my academic training in Psychology, Sociology, Economics and Mass communication and my experience as an entrepreneur to bring insights to all my technological projects that require this multidisciplinary approach. This very fact gives me a vantage and ascertains my position firmly in the field of HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) as a designer and a researcher,
